Program Overview
In 2004, the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities developed a training curriculum designed to help community members better understand the agency and experience what it may feel like to live with a disability.

The program includes:

• A short introductory PowerPoint presentation
• Training on Assistive Technology
• Education on “People First Language”
• A Meet and Greet session with an individual who has a disability

Participants gain both knowledge and personal insight through interactive learning and discussion.

Program Impact & Recognition
This training program has been widely successful and has been delivered to:

• Schools
• Church groups
• Rotary Clubs
• Various community organizations

In July 2005, the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities received Exemplary Status from the CARF accreditation organization for this program.

Flexibility of Training
This curriculum is highly flexible and can be adapted to any group size or schedule:

• Groups of up to 400 participants (2-hour session)
• Small groups of around 20 participants (1-hour session)
• Available during daytime or evening sessions

No matter the time available, the program can be adjusted to fit your needs.
